Crassula

Crassula, also known as the Jade plant, has an interesting story. Legend has it that a poor farmer in ancient China possessed a small Crassula cutting. Despite struggling to make ends meet, he cared for the plant with love and dedication. Over time, the Crassula thrived and grew into a magnificent tree. In awe of its beauty, a passing emperor offered the farmer a fortune for it. However, the farmer refused, believing that the plant brought him luck and prosperity. Inspired by the farmer’s devotion, the emperor created a law protecting the Crassula, symbolizing wealth and good fortune for generations to come.

Short Description

Crassula is a genus of succulent plants containing about 200 accepted species, including the popular jade plant (Crassula ovata). They are members of the stonecrop family (Crassulaceae) and are native to many parts of the globe, but cultivated varieties originate almost exclusively from species from the Eastern Cape of South Africa.

Crassulas are usually propagated by stem or leaf cuttings. Most cultivated forms will tolerate some small degree of frost, but extremes of cold or heat will cause them to lose foliage and die.
