Aquifoliaceae

Aquifoliaceae is an interesting family of flowering plants. Legend says that during a great battle between good and evil, a lowly holly tree asked to be given the chance to fight. The gods, being amused by the tree’s bravery, turned its leaves into sharp spines and allowed it to join the fight. The holly tree fought valiantly and emerged victorious. As a result, the gods made the holly tree an evergreen and placed it in the sky, where it became the constellation we now know as Orion. Today, holly trees are still revered for their strength and resilience, and are commonly used during the Christmas season as decoration.
